Lifting the unit onto the base items a challenge with out assistance. Two folks can simply elevate it onto the base. I used a front-end loader, which is over-kill. The most time-consuming step was once filling the gear field with lub. Turns out it is rather troublesome to get to, and I needed to rig a funnel and hose assembly to (slowly) fill it. (Do now not fail to remember this step. It is shipped dry). Checking all the settings took another hours or so. Surprisingly, everything was once as it should be set at the manufacturing unit.
The directions suggest a three-prong locking plug (not included). Turns out these are dear, so I used an electric vary plug I had laying around. Seems secure enough, however I am not an electrician.
Since I even have simplest used bench-top planers, I can only compare its operateance with these. It is MUCH faster, and get rid ofs much more wooden with every cross.

Their white colored model (Polar Bear) addresses the problem with the switch in a steel shroud with the intention to soak up precious shop space. It additionally needed too many Grizzly badges and heavier desk extensions. The Steelex 1002 is nice looking and to this point operates superb particularly for the low price compared to different Chinese constructed planers. I just like the motor installed on top together with the on/off buttons. The OFF button is nice and massive. Looking on the beneathside of the topstock of the steelex 15" and the Grizzly 15" planer they supply the affect of being virtually identical.
